I can’t wait for… Lost: Season 6
January 25th, 2010
GRAY-HAIRED MAN: I don’t have to ask. You brought them here. Still trying to prove me wrong, aren’t you?
BLOND MAN: You are wrong.
GRAY-HAIRED MAN: Am I? They come. They fight. They destroy. They corrupt. It always ends the same.
BLOND MAN: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.
- Jacob & Man In Black – 5×16 – The incident
And it’s here.1
I guess it doesn’t come as a surprise for anyone who knows me that I dedicate one of my ‘I can’t wait for’ posts to the upcoming sixth (and final) season of Lost, because, let’s face it, as of today it’s the number one thing on my ‘must-watch’ list.
My feelings towards it are somewhat mixed: I am very sad that the story is coming to an end, and I dread the finale day next May, but I’m also glad about the way it’s ending. It’s been known for three years2 that 2010 will be the ending year, which makes me feel more confident than with any other show that goes on season after season, only to be cancelled when it’s reached its lowest point. I’m hopeful this has given the writers the opportunity to prepare a great last season, since they know not only where the show is ultimately going to go, but also, how they’re going to get there, something which couldn’t have been done without a deadline.3
I’m also very excited about the fact that they don’t want to show any new footage on the previews that have been aired so far, although promos like this one show that new material is not always needed to get a great one4:
I’ve made the decission to not watch any of the ‘next episode previews’, or sneak peeks, which was the closest I’ve ever gotten to a spoiler in the past seasons5. The only thing I’ll know in advance are the titles of the episodes. For some reason I love knowing those, possibly because of the hours of random theories they give me and my friend6
I know there’s a lot of things that will be left unanswered. I’m ok with that. I prefer to get a good closure of the main points of the story and some things left to the imagination than a bunch of random explanations just for the sake of saying ‘hey, we answered it all!’ So if I never find out what Libby was doing on the mental hospital or whatever happened to Annie, I’m fine with that. To be quite honest, I’m mostly worried about the characters’ fate, their connection to the island and to each other, but I’m more than ready to get a few of non-desired deaths (and maybe a couple of desired ones ;D)
And since this is just a post about how much I’m anticipating the last season, I won’t say much more7, only a couple of suggestions if you want to get onto Lost-mode for next week. The producers have recommended a Season 1 rewatch to get ready for Season 6, but since there’s not always enough time, here you have some iconic scenes and conversations:
LOCKE: Two players. Two sides. One is light … one is dark. Walt, do you want to know a secret?
LOCKE: I’m an ordinary man, Jack, meat and potatoes, I live in the real world. I’m not a big believer in magic. But this place is different. It’s special. The others don’t want to talk about it because it scares them. But we all know it. We all feel it. Is your white rabbit a hallucination? Probably. But what if everything that happened here, happened for a reason? What if this person that you’re chasing is really here?
JACK: That’s impossible.
LOCKE: Even if it is, let’s say it’s not.
JACK: Then what happens when I catch him?
LOCKE: I don’t know. But I’ve looked into the eye of this island. And what I saw was beautiful.
KATE: People survive plane crashes all the time.
SAYID: Not like this one. The tail section broke off while we were still in the air. Our section cart wheeled through the jungle and yet we escaped with nothing but a few scrapes. How do you explain that?
KATE: Blind, dumb luck?
SAYID: No one’s that lucky. We shouldn’t have survived.
KATE: Sorry, Sayid, some things just happen, no rhyme, no reason.
MALKIN: This child parented by anyone else, anyone other than you — danger surrounds this baby. . .
CLAIRE: Danger?
MALKIN: Your nature, your spirit, your goodness, must be an influence in the development of this child.
CLAIRE: Look, if Thomas and I don’t get back together I’m putting this baby up for adoption. I just wanted to find out what would give the baby the happiest life.
MALKIN: There is no happy life — not for this child, not without you.
CLAIRE: I don’t. . .
MALKIN: It can’t be another. You mustn’t allow another to raise your baby.
HURLEY: But the numbers — did you ever find out anything about them? Do you know where they got their power?
DANIELLE: Power?
HURLEY: They bring bad stuff to everyone around you. They’re cursed. You know that, right? The numbers, they’re cursed.
DANIELLE: The numbers are what brought me here. As it appears they brought you. Since that time I’ve lost everything, everyone I cared about. So yes, I suppose you’re right. They are cursed.
HURLEY: Thank you. Thank you. You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for someone to agree with me. Thank you. Oh god, thank you.
[Locke in the jungle, kneeling and crying at the hatch.]
LOCKE: I’ve done everything you wanted me to do, so why did you do this to me?
[A light goes on inside the hatch.]
LOCKE: That’s why you and I don’t see eye-to-eye sometimes, Jack — because you’re a man of science.
JACK: Yeah, and what does that make you?
LOCKE: Me, well, I’m a man of faith. Do you really think all this is an accident — that we, a group of strangers survived, many of us with just superficial injuries? Do you think we crashed on this place by coincidence — especially, this place? We were brought here for a purpose, for a reason, all of us. Each one of us was brought here for a reason.
JACK: Brought here? And who brought us here, John?
LOCKE: The Island. The Island brought us here. This is no ordinary place, you’ve seen that, I know you have. But the Island chose you, too, Jack. It’s destiny.
JACK: Did you talk with Boone about destiny, John?
LOCKE: Boone was a sacrifice that the Island demanded. What happened to him at that plane was a part of a chain of events that led us here — that led us down a path — that led you and me to this day, to right now.
JACK: And where does that path end, John?
LOCKE: The path ends at the Hatch. The Hatch, Jack — all of it — all of it happened so that we could open the Hatch.
JACK: No, no, we’re opening the Hatch so that we can survive.
LOCKE: Survival is all relative, Jack.
JACK: I don’t believe in destiny.
LOCKE: Yes, you do. You just don’t know it yet.
And to get an overall idea and a reminder of how things were left, I bet we can all spare 8 minutes 15 seconds, right?
- I know it’s technically a week away, but when you’ve waited 8 months, one week is really nothing
[↩] - which is actually when I started watching the show [↩]
- Of course, if they end up screwing it up, they won’t have any excuse, but I’m not contemplating that possibility… at least not yet ;D [↩]
- and with Radiohead music! [↩]
- last season, I didn’t even watch the sneak peeks [↩]
- you have no idea of how much we debated what ‘He’s our you’ meant last season XD [↩]
- Multiple posts will probably pop up randomly during the next month and for sure once it’s over, do not fear XD [↩]

*clings to Lost forever and ever* As I know you already know, I’m beyond excited for the premier! I can’t wait! I’m also a bit sad about it though knowing come May, it’ll all be over. After that, no more new Lost. Life will never be the same! No series has ever touched me as much as Lost has. Before it, I didn’t know what rabid fangirling was! haha.
That Lost in 8:15 video is one of my favourite things ever. I love the voice. “Very sad.” LOL. That makes me laugh every time. (Sorry Charlie’s death scene.)
I also didn’t know you didn’t watch this from the beginning! I guess I just assumed you did. Ah well, doesn’t matter. You’re my Lost buddy now!

I know, the ‘very sad’ parts are supposed to be, well, sad, but all I can do is laugh XD The ‘Creepy’ refering to Ben is also very spot-on ;D And nope, I didn’t start watching until 2007, I’ll get back to you with the whole story on why
7 freaking days!!!

ZOMGYAY LOST!
Really, I’m getting more and more excited now that I remembered it will be just one more week until we hopefully get several big questions answered. And the last video is definitely awesome, I wanted to watch it for a while and just did.
‘And the screen turns white. Cool.’ LMAO!
So far I haven’t watched any promos or spoiler videos myself, I could keep myself easily away from it. Just one more week, I think that’s doable.
And we have a lot of stuff to talk about after each episode I guess.

Yay for long and random Lost chats, I’m really looking forward to it! I love how everything is kind of ‘getting in the mood’ for season 6, that doesn’t really happen with most shows
